Wood products are a sustainable choice for building structures. Wood products have a lower impact on air and water pollution and have a lighter carbon footprint than other commonly used building materials. In fact, wood products can act as a carbon storage system. As trees grow, they absorb carbon, which exists in the atmosphere from fossil-fuel-burning power plants and other sources. When we cut a tree and use its wood, the carbon that it has absorbed throughout its lifetime is stored in the wood instead of returning to the atmosphere.
The primary structure of the Outdoor Center is built with wood products called Glued- Laminated Timbers (Glulams). Glulams are made from smaller strips of lumber bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives to create exceptionally strong, durable, and versatile structural beams and columns.
